My croton has lost all of its leaves!?

Hi, i hada croton i got on sale from Walmart and it was beautiful when i first got it. Then the leaves started falling off, and one of the three plants in the pot died. I thought i was overwatering so I cut back, put it in a 12 inch terra cotta pot, and nothing. Then I noticed the spider mites. I sprayed and sprayed the plant a number of times and got rid of them. But now, about a month later, all the leaves are still gone. The plant itself is still alive (i've scd back some of the bark with my finger nail) and the stalks still look plump. What can i do to bring it back?
