I am moving old items from US to Canada and want to avoid paying customs taxes?
I have been living in the US for the last 4 years. I am originally from Canada and will now move back to Toronto where my home is. Over this time I have done some shopping and will be bringing some stuff over the border with me which was purchased in America. Some of this stuff are pretty expensive like a TV, Xbox, Computer, Monitor, Espresso Machine, Dyson Vacuum, etc. I am wondering if I have to pay customs taxes when I bring this stuff over the border? Most of it is at least 3 years old. I have original receipts for most of the expensive stuff. Even with all this, do you think I will need to pay taxes at the border? If I do, then how much? Will they tax the original prices of the items from years ago? Thanks for the help.
